Carol Jean McCartney, 76, of Urbana, passed away at 10:05 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Country Health Care and Rehab Center in Gifford. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4th at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday, December 5th at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Leah Robberts-Mosser officiating. Burial will be held at Eastlawn Burial Park in Urbana.

Carol was born February 11, 1940 in Granite City, Illinois to parents Hubert and Louisa (McGriff) Hall. She married Carl Duffield and he preceded her in death in 1972. Survivors include son, Brian Duffield (Becky), of Thomasboro, daughter, Colleen Cornellison, of Granite City, grandsons, Carl and Travis Duffield (and his fiancAC. Jenn Kosciw), of Forest Park, and siblings, Betty Tester, of Granite City, Lila Sloan, of Midlothian, Texas, and Gerald Hall (Nancy), of Granite City. Carol then married Charles McCartney on November 10, 2001 and he preceded her in death on October 10, 2011, leaving stepchildren, Cindy Knerr (Bill), of Mahomet, Debbie Routh (Bill), of St. Joseph, and Shelly Friese (Roger), of Urbana.

Carol is also survived by her dear friends of many years, Burgi and Milton Weisenburg of Champaign. Her parents, sister Marilyn Hurd, and sons, Kevin and Paul Duffield preceded Carol in death.

Mrs. McCartney worked for many years at Collegiate Cap and Gown (now Herff Jones Cap and Gown). Carol was an avid bowler, bowling on leagues and in many tournaments. She loved shopping, and followed NASCAR racing.
