Carol Anne LeSeure, 80, of Champaign, IL, passed away at 2:50 P.M. on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at 3 P.M. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 P.M. prior to the service.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 49 years, Keith LeSeure. She is survived by one sister, Connie Wilson of Rolling Meadows, IL, and by nieces and nephews Donna Neumann of Cincinnati, OH, Randy Cassady of Louisville, KY, Linda Gillis of Owensboro, KY, Sandra Neutz of Louisville, KY, Cindy Head of Louisville, KY, Jim Cassady of Manchester, CT, John Cassady of Jupiter, FL, Jodi Fields of Tampa, FL, William Jonson of Bark River, MI, Cathy Stephen of Hamburg, WI, along with eight great nieces and nephews, two great great nephews, and others. She is also survived by her companion of sixteen years, her dog Rebel.
Carol was born on January 11, 1936, in Antioch, IL, to parents Edward and Violet Bickley Loftus. She attended the University of Illinois, earning a bachelor's and two master's degrees, and was a member of the U of I alumni association. She was a longtime English teacher and counselor at Urbana High School, honored by the student senate when she retired after thirty-three years of service.
She was a member of the Dog Training Club of Champaign Urbana, and a teacher of dog obedience and agility classes. She had a great love for all creatures in nature, especially shelties, cats, goldfinches, and the herons and geese of Maynard Lake. She held a special place in her heart for U of I football, Cubs baseball, books, and poetry. She is mourned by her many friends and former students, but most especially by her nieces and nephews and other family members. Her profound influence on the young lives she touched cannot be overestimated.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Dog Training Club of Champaign Urbana, the Central Illinois Sheltie Rescue, or the Salvation Army.
