Carol Eloise Hixson, 87 of Urbana passed peacefully on August 20, 2026.She was born June 1, 1939, in Chicago, the fourth child in the loving south side home of Howard and Mary Anabel (Bledsoe) Bergner. She married Bill Hixson on September 19, 1964 and was his loving and devoted wife for 58 years. He passed away in January 2023.She is survived by her sons David (Monica), Dale (Brenda), and Dean (April); and grandchildren Catherine, Blake Waller, Tyler, Erich, Ty Waller, Nora, and Luke. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Howard, Jr., and sisters Kathleen and Mary (Jean).She approached each day with a genuine laugh and a sharp sense of humor. She was a comfort to others in dark times. Always generous with her time on Earth, she opened up her home to the neighborhood kids; volunteered full time at school, where she touched so many young lives; and above all threw herself heart and soul into motherhood. Even to the end. In her final hours, still she thought mostly of her sons and their families, always concerned, always proud.Her final days were a painful trial, yet through it all she remained grateful to God for a life well-lived and full of love. Death cannot erase who she was, how she cared for us, the many lives touched, or the lessons learned.Matt. 25:23No services are planned.
