Carl William "Red" Allman, 76 of Urbana, died at 7:09 a.m. Saturday, May 30 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday June 5 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Pastor Brent Roberson will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Allman was born September 22, 1941 at Champaign, the son of Virgil G. and Mabel M. Jones Allman. He married Lorraine M. Heater on August 26, 1961 and she preceded him in death on February 22, 1992. He is survived by daughters; Lori A. Allman of Springfield, MO, Lisa G. Selle of Sidney, sisters; Barbara S. Powell of Mattoon, Geraldine Johnson of Champaign, Joan Burch of Mansfield, grandchildren; Brandie Gaines, Jacob Selle, Brandon Felty and Joshua Selle, three great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, Terry O. Allman, sister, Luanne Allman and son-in-law, Roger Selle.
Mr. Allman is a 1959 graduate of Urbana High School as was owner/operator of Allman's Marathon which later became Allman's Auto Repair in downtown Urbana for over 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Urbana, had a long time attraction for cars and attended numerous car shows. Carl especially enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing stories of his past and attending family get-togethers. He also enjoyed bowling and loved animals, especially his trusted friend and dog, "OK".
