C. Pate Hutchens, Jr. 92 of Mt. Dora, Florida and the past two months of Urbana, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Center, Urbana, Illinois.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Illinois, Pastor Chuck Carlson will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
Mr. Hutchens was born on January 3, 1915 at Midnight, Mississippi, the son of Claude Pate Hutchens, Sr. and Nettie McMaster Hutchens Graves.
He married Marie Olson on April 8, 1939 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She died on April 21, 1991. He then married Mary Sieber on January 3, 1995 in Florida and she died on September 8, 2007.
Survivors include a son, John Pate (Beth) Hutchens of Champaign, Illinois; a grandson, Christopher Pate Hutchens of Chicago; five nephews: Rick Hutchens of Jupiter, Florida; Tom Hahn of Orlando, Florida; Dr. Zack Hutchens of Centerville, Tennessee; Patrick Hutchens of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Bill Breach of Dunwoody, Georgia; two nieces: Connie Breach Cranford of Springfield, Illinois and Marti Breach of Homewood, Illinois and two sister-in-laws, Ruth Hutchens of Tennessee and Margaret Olson Breach of Flossmoor, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Marie Hutchens; a brother, Andrew Hutchens and a sister, Claire Hahn.
Mr. Hutchens graduated from Mississippi State University.
He was a Lt. Col. in the Army Air Corps serving during WW II
Mr. Hutchens retired from United Airlines as Director of Employment.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Pi Kappa Alpha, Retired United Airlines Employees where he served as president from 1981 - 1983 and was also an Eagle Scout.
Mr. Hutchens formerly lived in Yazoo City, Mississippi; Starkville, Mississippi; Indianapolis, Indiana; New York City; England; Knoxville, Tennessee; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Arlington, Virginia and Arlington Heights, Illinois.
After retirement he lived in Clearwater, Florida and Blowing Rock, North Carolina; he then moved to Mount Dora, Florida.
