Byron C. Evans 50 of Champaign died at 1:51 a.m. Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene, 1808 South Philo Road, Urbana; Rev. Wayne Clevenger officiating. Burial will be in Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, California. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mr. Evans was born on September 1, 1961 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Climmie and Eula Evans. After a lengthy courtship he married Brenda Clevenger on July 11, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada, she survives.

Also surviving are his mother; Eula Evans of Los Angeles, California, two step children; Derek Clem of Champaign and Danielle (Dennis) Arakelian of Round Hill, Virginia, one brother; Kikus Evans of Denver, Colorado, one sister; Rhonda Collins of Los Angeles, California, one grandson; Augustus Arakelian and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister.

Mr. Evans received Bachelor degrees in psychology and biology from Cal State Northridge and a MD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Mr. Evans worked part time for the Champaign Public Library, substitute teacher for Gerber Cunningham School and owned rental properties.

He was a member of Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed gardening.
