Bonnie Lynn Gaffney Sutherland 86, of Savoy formerly of New Orleans, LA died at 12:05 P.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Carle Arbours, Savoy.

Funeral services will be held in New Orleans, LA. Burial will be at St. Bartholomew Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sutherland was born on January 15, 1920 in New Orleans, LA, the daughter of Harry B. and Mary Katherine McMahon Gaffney. She married Matthew Rozelius Sutherland on February 14, 1942 in New Orleans, LA. He died on February 19, 2002.

Survivors include three sons; Matthew Robert (Bob) Sutherland of Atlanta, GA, Preston Gaffney (Bud) Sutherland and Dean Allen Sutherland both of New Orleans, LA and one daughter Mary Kay (Casey) Sutherland of Champaign, IL, seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

Mrs. Sutherland worked in civil service for the Navy.

She was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church, New Orleans, LA. The Aurora-Orleans Chapter of AARP, Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Sutherland moved to Champaign-Urbana in September 2005 following Hurricane Katrina. She loved dancing, singing, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.
