Bobby Gene Jones, 72, of Urbana, passed away at 4:28 p.m., Sunday, May 22nd, 2016 at Presence-Covenant Medical Center in Urbana, Illinois. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 at Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1601 W. Bloomington Rd., Champaign from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service at the church will be held immediately following the visitation. Pastors Michael Thomas and Ronald Baker will officiate. Burial will be held at Lincoln Memorial Garden, Urbana.

Mr. Jones was born February 19th, 1944 in Marianna, Arkansas to parents Asberry and Lillie Mae (Young) Jones. Bobby is survived by son, Tony Jones, of Champaign, siblings: Pearlene Smith, of Urbana, Percell "Petey" Jones (Pam), of Urbana, Rosie Beard (Ray), of Urbana, and Essie Carter, of Champaign. One grandson and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends also survive Bobby. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Lillie, Charity, Ida May, Clementine, Asberry Jr., Walter, and Otha.

Mr. Jones was an extremely generous member of Jericho Missionary Baptist Church. He also enjoyed his job as a detailer at Cunningham Motors, where he worked for many years. His interests included wrestling, watching old westerns, cooking, fishing, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.
