Betty Lou Owen-Ferris of Urbana, formerly of Tolono, passed away peacefully at 2:45 am on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born on September 30, 1940 to Norton and Ellen (Sanford) Niles. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rose Mose and Barbara Bland; brother, Glen Niles; son, Thomas B. Owen and two daughters, Sherry L. and Margaret E. Owen. Also preceding her in death were husbands James E. Owen and Michael T. Ferris Sr.

Betty is survived by her sons; James R. (Carol) Owen of Champaign, Daniel R. (Hyun Hee) Owen of Carrollton, TX and her daughter in law Debbie Owen-Henson of Bement. Her sister Sally (Albert) Price of Mt. Zion, brother Avon (Harriet) Niles of Pana, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and her faithful companion Bingo also survive her. Betty attended Cerro Gordo schools and worked in housekeeping at Carle for twenty years.

She had a green thumb and could be seen tending to her many flowers, plants and lawn. Betty loved hummingbirds and delighted in watching them at the feeder in her yard. She also enjoyed sewing, until her eyes became weary making fine stitches. She enjoyed garage sales, thrifting, shopping and problem solving with her cherished friends Dianna, Tina and Alice.

A memorial reception will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory in Urbana. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Boniface Cemetery in Seymour.

Betty's wish was that the room be filled with flowers for her memorial reception.
