Betty Jane Latter, 89, of White Heath, passed away at 6:52 a.m., Monday, November 9, 2015 at her home.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 12th at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 13th at the First Baptist Church of Champaign at Savoy, 1602 S. Prospect Ave., Champaign. Pastor Richard W. Smith will officiate. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Mrs. Latter was born April 29, 1926 in Champaign, Illinois to parents Edward Francis and Ethel May (Prough) Lindeman. She married Malvern Donald Latter Sr. September 24, 1948 at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. He preceded her in death July 15, 2003. Betty is also preceded in death by her son, Malvern Donald Latter Jr., six brothers, and three sisters.

Mrs. Latter is survived by daughters, Carol Wilson (Terry) and Susan Hettinger, of White Heath, sisters, Ruth Giordano, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Patricia Mingee, of Savoy, Illinois, grandchildren, Paul Wilson (Laura), of Leslie, Michigan, Timothy Wilson (Christina), of Bement, Illinois, Charles Shepherd, of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Ronald Latter (Kim), of Cape Coral, Florida, Andrew Hettinger, of Rantoul, Illinois, Dr. Rachael Davis (Jason), of Metamora, Illinois, Leslie Hettinger, of Rantoul, Illinois, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Betty graduated from Champaign High School in 1944. After marriage she became a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and an exceptional mother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
