Our beautiful mother passed away on October 29 at the age of 96. She was much loved by her family and we are ever grateful for the many ways she touched our lives. Betty Cribbet was born in Antwerp, Ohio, the eldest daughter of Glenn and Bonnie Smith. Her sister Barbara Kidd of Albany, New York survives. Also surviving are daughters Pamela Cribbet Steward (Tom, deceased) of Bloomington, Illinois and Carol Cribbet-Bell (Michael) of Tucson, Arizona. Her five grandchildren are Jon Steward (Karla) of Murfreesboro, Tn., Becky Westerfield (Tom) of Bloomington, Il., Libby Blumer (Kyle) of Fox River Grove, Il., Travis Bell (Holly) of Portland, Ore., and Andrew Bell of Tucson, AZ. She had nine beloved great grandchildren. Mrs. Cribbet attended Illinois Wesleyan University where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. It was there that she met the great love of life, John Edward Cribbet (deceased). They were married for 68 years sharing a deep commitment to the University of Illinois, the Champaign-Urbana community, and their family. Mrs. Cribbet was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Urbana. She was a sustaining member of Junior League of Champaign-Urbana, Social Science Club, Children's Home and Aid Society of Illinois, a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter HI, and a Life Member of Carle Foundation Hospital Auxiliary. Honoring our mother's wishes there will be a private service for the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association and the Arthritis Foundation. Final arrangements are entrusted with Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory of Urbana.
