Betty Jean
Conley
Jul 2, 1927 — Jul 26, 2016
Betty Jean Conley, 89, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Mt. Hope Mausoleum, 611 E. Pennsylvania Ave, Champaign. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the mausoleum. Pastor Wayne Clevenger will officiate.
Betty was born on July 2, 1927 in Champaign to parents Roy Francis and Margaret Jane (Armstrong) Craig. They preceded her in death. On October 5, 1946 Betty married Clyde M. Conley in Urbana. They were happily married for 59 years before he passed away on March 10, 2006. Also preceding her in death were three brothers and one sister.
She is survived by three sons; Stephen (Patricia) Conley of Midland, TX, Gregory Conley of Urbana and Marc Conley of Colorado Springs, CO. Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive her.
Betty graduated from St. Joseph High School and worked as a realtor and property manager for many years, which she enjoyed. She also enjoyed working at Mt. Hope/ Woodlawn Cemeteries as a Family Services Counselor.
When Betty was younger, she and Clyde also enjoyed traveling, gardening and taking care of their grandchildren. Betty was a strong willed independent woman who shared these traits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always dressed to impress and looked forward to her weekly hair appointments. She had an opinion for everything and never held back the truth. Betty took her responsibilities as a grandmother very seriously and loved coming to special events to show her love and support for each grandchild! Betty loved being a grandma and her greatest joys were her great grandchildren.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Betty's memory to her great grandchildren's college fund. Condolences may be offered at renner-wikoffchapel.com.
