Bernadine Landis, 91 of Urbana died at 10:25 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana; the Rev. Tim Barber will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bernadine was born October 27, 1918 in West Salem, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Sams. She married Sharon Landis November 22, 1936. He passed away December 22, 1977.

She is survived by one son David (Deanna) Landis of St. Joseph, three grandchildren, Tim (Angi) Landis, Mike Landis and Amy (Jason) Grindley of St. Joseph; five great grandchildren, Ashley and Katie Landis, and Lucas, Nolan and Brandon Grindley; two brothers, Ivan Sams of Cambria, Don (Mildred) Sams of Hollister, California, one sister, Ersel Hall of Sycamore; and one sister-in-law Dianne (Bill) Lomas of West Salem.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Earl Sams and Hershel Sams; and one sister Dorothy Ahlfield.

She was a member of First Christian Church, 3601 Staley Road, Champaign. She was active in church work, especially missions, when she was in good health. She worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown in Champaign and later was a beautician for many years in Bondville. She loved gardening and loved seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
