URBANA, IL- Barbara J. Tjarks, 70, of Urbana, died at 2:45PM, Friday, September 8, 2006 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Rev. Hal Teuscher will officiate. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 5-8PM, Tuesday evening at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and also 1 hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tjarks was born February 15, 1936 at Fairbury, Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Ida Ruth Roessler Funkhouser. She married Kenneth Tjarks on December 23, 1953 at Sibley, Illinois. He survives. Also surviving are 3 Daughters: Ruth Jass of Frankfort, IL, Karen Mank of Weldon, IL, and Mary Rudd of Woodbridge, VA. 5 Grandchildren 1 Brother: David Roach of Fairbury, IL; 2 Sisters: Diane Scherr of Downs, IL and Donna Weiss of Bloomington, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 infant son and 1 brother.

Mrs. Tjarks graduated from Fairbury High School in 1954 and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Urbana. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
