Barbara J. Pyhel, 77, of Urbana, Illinois and formerly of Pompano Beach, Florida, died Friday (June 19, 2009) at Carle Hospital. A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana. Barbara was born October 25, 1931, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, daughter of Charles and June (Dannaman) Mobley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank Pyhel and by both parents. Survivors include her daughter, Linda S. Coleman and her daughter-in-law, Casey Sutherland. Barbara had a long and successful career as a legal secretary. She loved gathering with family and friends over a good meal, reading, shopping, meeting with her Red Hat group, and spending time with her aptly named cat, Cuddles. Her family wishes to thank all of the wonderful caregivers at Canterbury Ridge, Heartland Manor Care, and Carle Hospital. Because she so loved animals of all kinds, memorials may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society.
