Arthur Zangerl, 59, of Urbana, died at 6:04 a.m., December 16, 2011 at home.

Arthur Zangerl was born September 21, 1952 in Chicago, IL second son of Rainer and Anna Kurtz Zangerl. He married Kathleen Brinkmann on May 16, 1975 in Rockville, IN. She survives.

A daughter, Lisa Zangerl of Washington D.C.; a son, Daniel Zangerl of Urbana; and a brother, Carl Zangerl of Massachusetts, survive him.

His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. Zangerl received a PhD from the U of I Urbana Champaign. He worked as a research scientist for the U of I for 28 years and served at one time on the Urbana City Council.
