Annabel
Carley
Jan 11, 1931 — Mar 14, 2026
Ann was born on Jan. 11, 1931, in Penfield, the sixth of eight children raised by John T. Collins and Laura (Cole) Collins, who preceded her in death. Ann was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched the lives of many.
She married Robert V. Carley on Jan. 14, 1949, at the Methodist Church in Armstrong. He passed away on Sept. 16, 2008.
Survivors include her sons, Robert D. (Dan) Carley (Mary) of Farmer City and Frank Carley of rural White Heath. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Shayne Carley (Janet) of Monticello, Sandra Carley (Nathan Bartley) of rural Sadorus, Matthew Carley (Sara) of Champaign and Cathy Pruitt (Brandon) of Clinton.
Ann worked at various jobs while raising children, two grandchildren and often fostering more than a few cousins temporarily; including working for Urbana School District 116, the University of Illinois, Moody Coal Company, Sears Roebuck and Company, Bill & Sandy's, and Tatman Village retirement community in Monticello.
Ann loved her flowers, gardening and canning fresh foods. She was a member of the local TOPS chapter for 40-plus years. Annabel was a woman of strong faith and was known to attend church with great regularity. She also enjoyed lively conversation and preparing delicious Sunday dinners for her family.
In lieu of memorials, Annabel would love for you to plant a flower.
