Anita Faye Gritton, 76 passed away to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday September 13, 2026.

Anita was born on May 11, 1950 at Trenton Georgia to parents of Benny Frank Patton and Mabel Faye Jones, both deceased. Anita graduated from Davis High School and from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN with a degree in Secondary Education.

Anita married Gary Allen Britton on July 25, 1975. They have four surviving children: Amelia (Jason) Franklin of Mahomet, Rev Jared (Rebekah) Gritton of North Port, Florida, Zachary (Abby) Gritton of Downs, IL and Kara Gritton of Pensacola, FL. She also has 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Benny Patton, Jr. and Steve Patton.

Anita taught all grades of elementary and high school in a 43 year career as a schoolteacher. She especially loved grammar and taught at Calvery Baptist Christian Academy in Urbana for 37 years,

Anita served as pianist at the Calvary Baptist Church in Urbana for 43 years. She was a musician, artist, seamstress, cook and beloved pastor’s wife to Gary. Other likes included gardening, sports and travelling.

She loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and accepting him at age 10 as her Savior. She also loved her family.

A visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 2106 E Windsor Rd, Urbana, IL on Wednesday September 16 from 9 am to 11 am. Service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Mayview.
