Obituary

Professor Andrew Isserman, 63-years-old, of Urbana, Illinois died suddenly on Thursday, November 4th, 2010, after collapsing during a game of basketball. Andy was born in New York, New York and grew up on American military posts in Germany and Vienna. He returned to the United States to attend Amherst College in Massachusetts, graduating in 1968. He received a PhD in regional science from the University of Pennsylvania and had a distinguished career in the fields of urban planning and agricultural economics as a professor at the University of Iowa, West Virginia University, and the University of Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Dr. Ellen Jacobsen-Isserman, to whom he has been married for 33 years, his two sons: Jacob, an emergency medicine doctor in New York City and Noah, a graduate student in Cambridge, England, his parents Manfred and Ellen Isserman, also of Urbana, and his sister, Marion, of North Carolina.

The funeral service will take place on Monday, November 8th, at 1:30 pm, at Sinai Temple, 3104 W. Windsor Road, in Champaign. Rabbi Klein will officiate. The interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery immediately following the service. Renner-Wikoff Chapel is handling the arrangements.
