Alvin J. Hildreth, 81 of Urbana died at 12:30 p.m. Sun., Jan 21 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wed. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., U. the Rev. Deborah Owen will preside. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tues. at the funeral home. Mr. Hildreth was born July 29, 1925 at Mahomet, a son of Ruth and Melvin Hildreth. He married Marjorie Miner on Aug. 5, 1945. She died Nov. 7, 2005. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Survivors include a daughter Diane Campbell of Urbana, two sons, Scott Hildreth of Granger, IN and Kyle Hildreth of Urbana; five grandchildren, Amy and Sean Campbell of Urbana, Olivia and Ivan Hildreth of Granger, IN and Kyle, Jr. of Lakeland, FL; four great-grandchildren, Danielle Griffet of Mahomet, Nicholas, Kristen and Carsen Campbell of Urbana; two sisters, Barbara Gillespie and Joyce Hildreth of Urbana; two brothers, Hoke Hildreth and Buck Hildreth of Urbana. Mr. Hildreth served in the Army in 1945. He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman. He was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union. He retired from Tile Specialist after a long career as installer and supervisor. Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
