Obituary

Alverda L. Boone went home to be with the Lord forever at 2:00 p.m. July 9, 2011. Alverda Louise Boone was born in Abington, IL Oct 11, 1922 to William and Goldie Marie (Way) Stegall. She had one brother, Rex Martin, who preceded her in passing.

She met the man of her dreams and married Herbert Thomas Boone in June of 1941. After 61 years of marriage she survived his passing in 2003, and also survived the passing of a son, Ronald Martin, in 1991.

Herbert joined the military shortly after they married so she spent most of her married life moving a lot and saw many things. Her family was stationed in France and Puerto Rico, and many other places in the states.

She started working at a flight line. A store that catered to pilots. They eventually trained her to be a manager. So from there she worked as a manager in the Base Exchange at various bases. She enjoyed working and had a lot of fun with the people she worked with. She was ambitious and wanted to improve things in the store.

Earlier in her life she worked in an overall factory. That's probably what got her started sewing. She told me they lived in this one trailer park and she had all the ladies come to her house to sew. She loved to sew. When she retired in 1984 she and Herbert started making quilts. She also loved to embroider and crochet.

Since moving from Texas to Urbana in 1989, she has attended Faith Church and has loved and enjoyed the people there.

Alverda Louise Boone is survived by her children, Leo, Pat, and Sandy Boone; her grandchildren, LeeAnn Boone, Gary (Malissa) Boone, and Stacey (Steve) Coolman; her great grandchildren, Braxton, Bradon, Brandon Boone and Ryan and Derek Coolman; and her daughter in law Berniel.

She enjoyed her life and was very thankful for the many blessings God gave her. God gave her strength and comfort in her time of need. I'm thankful she knows Jesus and is with him now. She was a loving mother and will deeply be missed.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Faith Church 2111 Willow Rd. Urbana. Pastor Marsh Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Church 2111 Willow Rd. Urbana, IL. Condolences may be offered at www.renner-wikoffchapel.com.
