Alma Jane Cloud, 76, of Urbana, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at the Champaign-Urbana Regional Rehab Center in Savoy.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Rev. Rich Gregory will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Mrs. Cloud was born January 29, 1934 in Marion, a daughter of Willis and Anna Mae Hilliard. She married Charles R. Cloud on December 30, 1950 in Arkansas. He died in November of 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Charla Sherwood of Urbana, and Barbara (Chuck) Carlton of Urbana. Two grandchildren, Jenifer Bruce (Matt) Harrison of Fithian and Lee Sherwood of Champaign; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Kyle Reitmeier of Fithian; two brothers, Don (Marilyn) Hilliard of Monroe, Michigan and Everett (Ginny) Hilliard of Marion; one sister, Maudene (Charlie) Norman of Marion; sister-in laws, Lucille Lee and Millie Clarida who she called her sisters, both of Marion; brother-in-law, Jim (Barbara) Cloud of Royalton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Cloud Dueringer, her parents, two brothers and a sister, her mother and father-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
Alma was a stay at home mom for many years, then returned to school, attending Parkland College and the University of Illinois, where she graduated in 1973. She then taught school for many years in Muncie and Oakwood before retirement. She enjoyed her family, many church friends & activities, Illini football and basketball, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. She was a wonderful mom, wife, grandmother and sister. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorials may be made to Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, 600 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Urbana, where she was an active member since 1967.
