Alice Bauling, 91, of Meadowbrook Health Center, Urbana, IL, died at 4:00 p.m. Monday May 18 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Alice was born in Mauston, WI, the daughter of Leon and Nettie Sly Ward. She was the youngest of eleven children. Alice married Frank Ernst Bauling on March 24, 1934 in Ottawa, IL.

Survivors include one son, Douglas (Mary) Bauling, and one daughter, Annette (Roscoe) Pershing; five grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Knepp , William (Sara) Bauling, Michael (Betsy) Pershing, Pamela (John) Rees, and Kimberly (Victor) Cortez; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Jeanette Prins, one brother, Harold Rayment, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, three sisters, and five brothers.

Alice farmed with her husband near Rockton, IL until his death on May 9, 1974. Alice continued to live on the farm until April of 1994, when she moved to Clark-Lindsey Village in Urbana, IL. Alice was schooled in the rural Beloit schools, belonged to the Sand Prairie Ladies Group and volunteered in her children's schools.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009, at McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL. A family graveside service will be held at the Rockton Township Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 16, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 or Clark-Lindsey Village Legacy Fund, 101 W.
