Alexander Barrowman Jr., 85 of Urbana died at 12:45 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2011 at Helia Healthcare Center, Urbana.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Barrowman was born on September 9, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Alexander and Mary Jacobi Barrowman Sr. He married Gladys M. Lustig on September 6, 1947 in Rantoul; she survives.

Also surviving are two sons; Robert (Connie) Barrowman of Mahomet, Gary (Marialice Poo Stevens) Barrowman of Farmer City, two daughters; Sherry (Randy Smith) Barrowman of Decatur, Diane (Dave) Barrowman of Naperville, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son; Duane.

Mr. Barrowman was a U.S. Air Force veteran, where he trained as a bombardier in Alaska and spent one year in Saudi Arabia.

He was and an assistant manager at the Illini Book store for 22 years.

Mr. Barrowman enjoyed photography, fishing and watching baseball.
