Alberta R. Schneider, 84, formerly of Piqua, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 as a result of a fall. She was born April 27, 1930 in Hamilton, Ohio to the late James Chesley and Mary (Belcher) Seals. She married Ralph F. Schneider June 23, 1956 in Dayton, Ohio; he preceded her in death May 3, 1996.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosalyn S. Kesan and son-in-law, Jay P. Kesan of Champaign; three grandchildren, James Kesan, Maya Kesan and Sara Kesan; a sister, Hester Klipfer of Eaton, Ohio; and a brother, Dr. Steven Seals of Miamisburg, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harmon Seals and George Seals.

Mrs. Schneider graduated from Dixon-Israel High School of Eaton, Ohio in 1948 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Miami University of Ohio in 1952. She taught kindergarten children for many years within the Dayton Public School system and retired from the Upper Arlington Schools in 1967.

Alberta moved to Champaign in 2004 to join the lively household of her daughter. She enjoyed decorating the house, tending the garden and antiquing. She liked to follow both politics and soap operas. Above all, she delighted in the companionship of her grandchildren and family. She remained meticulous and independent to the end.

A service to honor her life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Greene Street United Methodist Church in Piqua, Ohio.
