Albert E. Bloemker, 82, of Urbana passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Amber Glen Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Urbana.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory in Urbana. Pastor Rick Smith will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Burial Park in Urbana.

Albert was born on August 23, 1934 in Garrett, IL to parents William L. and Mabel I. (Hadfield) Bloemker. They preceded him in death. On April 18, 1959 he married Ada M. Tatman in Urbana; she passed away on Nov. 18, 2002. Also preceding him in death were his brothers; Charles Bloemker, Bernard Bloemker and Roy Bloemker and his sister Eunice Hubert.

He is survived by his brothers Gerald (Jean) Bloemker of Urbana and Ralph (Earlene) Bloemker of Venice, FL. His sister in law, Vicki Bloemker of Urbana and several nieces and nephews also survive him.

After graduating from Urbana High School in 1953, Albert enlisted in the Army, serving in Japan for three years.

He returned to Urbana and worked as a custodian for the University of Illinois, retiring in 1993 after thirty- one years. He also worked part time at Sears and for the Urbana Country Club.
