William L. McCormick

William L. McCormick, 89 of Rantoul, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday March 4, 2019 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday March 9 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana with visitation starting at 9:30.  Pastor Brent Roberson will officiate.  Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview.

Bill was born in Champaign County on March 16, 1929, the son of Lewis Harold and Lucy Alice (Burley) McCormick.  He married Gladys Marie Roberts January 7, 1969 in Urbana and she proceeded him in death on August 19, 2018.

He is survived by a daughter, Deanna Williams (George) of Champaign, son, Richard McCormick (Christine) of Urbana; siblings, Beverly Brazelton of Monticello, Betty Trowbridge (Robert) of Sidney, Joe McCormick of Paxton, Wayne McCormick (Darlene) of Potomac, Linda McCormick of Ft. Meyers, FL and three grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys, a son, Don McCormick, sisters, Shirley Shumate and Gloria McCormick.

Bill was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, a member of the United Brotherhood of Teamsters and a truck driver for Advance Transportation for 33 years.  He attended Faith United Methodist Church in Champaign.  He enjoyed motorcycles and rode a “Harley”.  After retirement he worked for the Champaign Park District helping to pick up litter to keep the parks clean.  “He always had a smile for family and friends.”
