Robert Eugene Duncan, age 87, was born in Danville, IL on March 7, 1932. He passed away March 7, 2019 at 11:59 pm at Autumn Fields in Savoy, IL.
Bob was the only child of the late Alva and Louise (Frye) Duncan. Bob was a graduate of Paxton High School. He went on to serve in the Seabees, a Navy construction battalion, during the Korean conflict.
On March 15, 1953, Bob married the love of his life, Carolyn Sue Woodworth. They lovingly raised 4 children together.
For 40 years Bob worked as a crane operator in Local 841; following in the footsteps of his father. Bob worked on many buildings around Champaign-Urbana including Beckman Institute, Assembly Hall, and the remodeling of the Memorial Stadium. He also worked on many buildings on the Iowa State University campus in Ames, Iowa.
Upon retirement Bob and his wife lived briefly in Scottsdale, AZ, where Bob enjoyed the sunshine! Bob and Sue also enjoyed travelling in the US as well as abroad.
Bob is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, and his son, William “Bill” Duncan.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Jane (Robert) Mumm of Sidney, IL, Sally Duncan of Urbana, IL and Jerry (Tara) Duncan of Gilbert, AZ. Four grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren also survive him.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Philo Presbyterian Church in Philo, IL, Pastor Jason Schiller will officiate.
