Norman C. Maske, 76 of Champaign, formerly of Brooklyn, Iowa passed away peacefully at 11:28 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon, Mattoon, Illinois.
He was born July 14, 1941 in Brooklyn, Iowa to Irvin and Lucille (Taylor) Maske. Norman graduated from Iowa City High School in 1959 and the University of Iowa in 1963. Mr. Maske was a member of the track team and ROTC while at Iowa and earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Mr. Maske is survived by his wife, Lana (Walker), two sons, Martin Maske (Diane) of Tacoma, Washington and Matthew Maske (Mai Phuong) of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two step-daughters, Karin Phelps (Travis) of Fisher, Illinois and Kristina Smith (Mike) of Tuscola, Illinois, 9 grandchildren and a sister Dora Lorence.
Mr. Maske worked many years for Sholem Shoes and the American Oil Chemists’ Society before beginning his long career in accounting at the University of Illinois. He retired from the University in 2014.
A visitation for Mr. Maske will be Thursday June 7 at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Urbana. Rev. Robert Rasmus will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
