Mildred Lukens

Mildred Dean Lukens, 93, of Urbana passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital surrounded by family.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 11:30 A.M – 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.

Mildred was born on June 12, 1926 in Pesotum, IL to parents Don and Clela (Jones) Coad. She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Clela (Jones) Coad, her husband Max Lukens and her granddaughter Stephanie (Lukens) Halterman.

On September 1, 1956 Mildred married Max Lukens in Hidalgo, IL.  She is survived by their children: Julia (Robert) Supple of Sanford, NC, Warren (Marcy) Lukens of Knoxville, IA, Don Lukens of Urbana, Lawrence Lukens of Urbana, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, her sister Doris Silver of Urbana and her brother Morris Coad of White Hall, IL.

Mildred worked for Illinois Bell as a switch board operator and then worked at Pyramid Paper Company in which she retired from.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene New Day.  Mildred was a great mom, grandma and great grandma. She enjoyed researching genealogy, reading books and creating photo albums. Before she was married, she enjoyed riding and showing her horses Lou and Jessie.
