Jeanne Carol (Murdock) Hackett

Jeanne Carol Hackett, 88, of Urbana passed away at 4:25 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Sunset Rehab in Canton, IL.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana on October 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Father Anthony Co will officiate.

Jeanne was born in Urbana on June 13, 1930 to parents Jesse and Courtney (Kistler) Murdock. They preceded her in death. On June 30, 1949 she married the love of her life, Paul Francis Hackett in Urbana; he passed away on October 17, 2012. Also preceding her in death was her son Stephen Paul Hackett, brothers; Paul E. Murdock, Harold Murdock, Ralph Murdock and sisters; Jessie M. Taylor and Charlotte B. Murdock-Dickson.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Forse (Roger) of Santa Barbara, CA, her best friend Ray Ahlrich and her nephew Richard Burmeister.

Jeanne was a 1948 graduate of Urbana High School, once a month the surviving 1948 graduating class would get together for dinner. Jeanne worked as an optician at Carle Clinic, retiring after twenty-two years; a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Urbana and belonged to many clubs and organizations throughout the years.

She was a member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Carle Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Daughters of American Colonists, The Woman’s Club of C-U, Covenant Auxiliary, Welcome Club and Urbana Senior Citizens.

Jeanne was an avid bridge player belonging to the Welcome Bridge Club and the University Bridge Club. She also loved to go ballroom dancing with Paul.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Homebound Communion or to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
