URBANA, IL- Fred M. Birnbeck, 93, passed away at Country Health Care in Gifford, IL on April 9, 2018. Born Aug. 31st, 1924 to Max Birnbeck and Anna Strobel in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bill Schneider and Frank Birnbeck and sisters Frieda and Bertha Schneider. Married but later divorced to Lorraine Hoff. He is survived by three daughters, 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Fred lived in Urbana, IL for the past 13 years and also enjoyed living in Wisconsin, Georgia, Fox Lake, IL and Florida. By trade he drove, delivering pork for Wetterlings and drove a bus for Continental Bus Co., driving celebrities from O'Hare to downtown Chicago hotels. He served in the army infantry in the Pacific during WWII. He will be remembered for his quick wit, warm personality and smile. He will be missed.
