Franklin D. Schackart

Franklin D. Schackart, 84, of Urbana, IL, passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital on April 11, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL, with burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview, IL.  Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the funeral home.

Franklin was born September 3, 1933 in Chicago, IL, son of William and Laura Schackart.  He graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1952.  He served in the U. S. Army from 1954 to 1956 as a Signal Clerk for Hq Co. 2nd Inf. Regiment.  He was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany.

He worked for the City of Chicago until 1970.  He then went on to become an Addiction Counselor and Psychiatric Evaluator at Carle Foundation Hospital after re-locating to Urbana, IL.  He enjoyed reading detective and suspense novels and fishing.

He is survived by 3 sons, Ken, Jeff and Frank, 3 daughters, Beverly, Kristy and Laurie and 6 grandchildren.
