Richard D. Cox 87 of Urbana died at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Wes Wilkey officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Hope Mausoleum, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cox was born on March 9, 1925 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Mike and Edith Cox. He married Marjorie Hill Tegland on March 17, 1949 in Moberly, Missouri. She died on January 21, 2000.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia A. Jordan of Urbana, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Mr. Cox was a 70-year member of the Brick and Stone Mason’s Union, having operated his own masonry business for many years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Urbana, Moose Lodge and Pollywogs in Danville.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
